+ UI/UX Designer Intern

We’re searching for a tech-savvy Intern to join our Toronto team as a Mobile UI/UX Designer and help create our next generation mobile app in a fast-growing, tech start-up environment. If you’re obsessed with designing incredibly delightful user interfaces and experiences, we want you to help us grow Swiggle across North America.

You’re obsessed about the minutia — the details that most people don’t see but that are essential to creating a joyful experience.  You know that designing an intuitive and elegant mobile journey takes patience, imagination, rigorous testing and iteration after iteration.  So do we.  Bring your visionary and cutting edge design skills to our team and have the creative freedom to make your mark.

Roles and responsibilities:

As our Mobile UI/UX Designer Intern, you will work closely with the Founders and Design Team to create the mobile interface, messaging and creative assets of the second generation of our app on iOS and Android.

 You will be developing a highly usable and intuitive mobile interface armed with a deep understanding of mobile Human Computer Interface design guidelines, as a well UX fundamentals. The concepts you create will contribute to our brand development, social media campaigns, web app and landing pages. To do so, you’ll bring an evolved understanding of how people use their devices and a robust toolkit

This role is initially for a 3 month term but has the potential to be extended to a full-time permanent position.

Duties:

Working closely with our Design Team, you will be involved in the following areas:

  • Product/UX Design – design solutions that address user needs and business goals through sketching, research, wireframes, visual design, and prototypes.  Develop intuitive, usable, and engaging interactions and visual designs for Swiggle’s mobile.  Participate in the nextgen development process from definition, through design, build, test, release, and maintenance
  • User Research & Testing – elicit data and meaningful insight from our customers about their needs and expectations through interviews, surveys, and test plans that will lead to intelligent design decisions down the road
  • Asset & Resource Design – build and maintain asset libraries (i.e. UI kits, UX flows, design templates, iconography, etc.), help explore tools and workflows to increase efficiency and quality of design
  • Stay abreast of the latest UX standards, changes, and trends in the mobile design field

 

Qualifications:

  • Working towards (or have completed within the last 3 years) an Advanced Bachelors or Masters degree in Human Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Digital Media or related fields with exceptional academic credentials
  • Strong portfolio of product design work that shows research, rationale, and outcome
  • Strong graphic design skills, with a good understanding of typography, intuitive layouts, and illustration
  • End-end designs skills from concepting, wireframing, prototyping, visual design to final polished product
  • Strong ability to recognize and predict use-cases and user interaction, including happy path, edge and corner cases, and incorporate them into designs
  • Excellent understanding of user-experience design for mobile, technology trends, and demonstrable design skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Products (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Great skills in Sketch, InVision, Balsamiq, Principle and other relevant design tools
  • Deep understanding of Apple’s human interface design guidelines, Android design and other mobile platform designs, including Google’s material design
  • Nice to have:  previous experience working with startups a plus; experience with motion graphics (Adobe After Effects, Framer, or similar software)

+ Growth Hacker Intern

We’re on the hunt for a world-class Growth Hacker to join our Toronto team as an Intern and help build the next generation of our platform. This role will have ownership and responsibility for developing and enhancing our customer acquisition and retention systems.

Skilled in all forms of social media, content creation and optimization — and not afraid to deep dive into details — we want you to help us grow the Swiggle brand across North America through creative customer acquisition strategies and scaling through our existing customer base.

Roles and responsibilities:

Working directly with our Digital Marketing Team, the Growth Hacker will be involved in the following areas:

  • User Growth and Retention Strategy:  You will help improve the strategy and systems to acquire, retain and service our users.  You will research the most effective digital acquisition channels for our target market and help execute the programs, reporting and analysis to optimize growth of high-value users.
  • A/B Testing: You will develop hypotheses and test acquisition ideas across a variety of channels and audiences including online and offline channels, creatives, messaging, etc.
  • Performance: You will help manage and improve our user acquisition and retention KPIs
  • Budgeting: You will help develop the paid ads program and budgeting
  • Reporting: You will develop a system to report on acquisition, retention and service efforts

Duties:

  • Develop, refine and execute our user acquisition strategy focused on the top of the funnel across a North American audience
  • Run complex data-driven experiments to learn and scale acquisition efforts
  • Derive and utilize insights from large user and campaign datasets to inform user acquisition strategy, channel tuning and content creation
  • Develop, manage and improve the performance of all digital acquisition campaigns including search, social, email and content platforms
  • Conduct a strategic monitoring and budgeting of paid vs. organic referencing
  • Coordinate continuous improvement processes (A/B Testing: Ads and Landing Pages)
  • Gather actionable data from our various sources to ensure consistent and continual optimization of the campaigns (CPC, Quality Score, Landing Page Optimization etc.)

 

Qualifications:

  • Working towards (or have completed within the last three years) a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism (or a similar degree)
  • Advanced Masters or PhD Candidates highly desirable
  • Demonstrable acquisition marketing experience
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.
  • Experience with digital acquisition channels such as paid ads, paid social channels, social posts and referrals, SEO, SEM (Adwords), ASO etc.
  • Experience with growth hacking tools such as Optimizely for A/B testing, Google Analytics, Heap Analytics, Mailchimp, etc.

+ Business Analyst Intern

We’re searching for a smart, business minded, technically savvy Intern to join our Toronto team as a Business Analyst and help build the next generation of our platform. This role will play an instrumental role in driving our growth by producing the research, analysis and reporting that will inform our business decisions and strategy.

If you’re a wizard with spreadsheets, have an impressively analytical mind and are not afraid to deep dive into the details, we want you to help us grow Swiggle across North America.

Roles and responsibilities:

Working directly with our Co-founder and Team Leads, the Business Analyst will be involved in the following areas:

  • Strategy:  You will research growth opportunities of new verticals in retail ecommerce (i.e. new product categories), analyse the potential of new app features and help architect the next generation of our service; you will document key insights on our Business Model Canvass
  • Operations: You will undertake special projects to tighten and streamline the core operations
  • Testing: You will assist the Design Team to develop hypotheses, design experiments and test ideas for new features across user segments
  • Finance and Accounting: You will assist the CFO to develop budgets and forecasts, create financial models and develop funding materials (i.e. refine business plan, pitchdeck)

Duties:

Daily and weekly projects will vary, but may include:

  • Research the business potential for enhanced purchase management features in our app and conduct A/B testing to explore product/market fit
  • Conduct the SWOT analysis, develop the business case and draft the implementation plan for unlocking credit card benefits in the retail and travel verticals
  • Maintain and update the Retailer Price Adjustment Policy Catalogue
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses to support short-term business priorities
  • Create the analyses and management reports to quantify and qualify user activity
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of financial models, accounting systems and books and records (corporate and finance/accounting)
  • Implement customer service software
  • Assist in processing price adjustment claims; develop ways to improve claims success ratio; automate parts of the process including alternative claim paths and natural language processing

 

Qualifications:

  • Working towards (or have completed within the last three years) a degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting (or a similar degree) with exceptional academic credentials
  • Advanced Bachelors or Masters candidates are highly desirable
  • Experience in building financial models, preparing reports and presentations
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience synthesizing large amounts of data
  • Analytical and problem solving skills to find creative ways to overcome obstacles
  • Nice to have:  some experience with basic SQL scripting and PowerBI a plus
  • Nice to have:  previous experience working with startups a plus
